What is a VPS and why do I need VPS hosting?

Is VPS hosting self managed or managed?
Our VPS hosting doesn’t automatically include server management, but you can opt into it if you want. If you know exactly what features and services you need, our VPS empowers you to purchase them – no more, no less.
What control panel does Hivium use for VPS hosting?
VPS hosting offers you a choice between three enterprise grade control panels. cPanel, DirectAdmin, and Enhance. They all are cutting-edge control panels designed for the next generation. These feature-rich control panels offer a user-friendly interface to effectively manage your websites and access all necessary options to keep them running smoothly.
With our innovative control panels, all the tools needed to secure and maintain your website are right at your fingertips. You can easily adjust PHP settings, restore backups to specific dates with precise controls, oversee your WordPress website, set up databases, create and manage email accounts, install and manage SSL certificates, establish staging environments, seamlessly transition from staging to live, and so much more.
Can a VPS scale as per my needs?
You can easily scale or resize VPS resources at Hivium. Resizing scales your server resources up or down as needed. Depending on the specific site or application needs, you can have the configuration you need in a short amount of time. For example, when organizations experience a traffic spike, they may require extra RAM and CPU resources, necessitating a small upscale.
Do note that once storage on a particular server is increased, the server cannot be downgraded to a lower plan. You will need to buy a new server and then transfer the files to the new server. If you only increase the RAM and CPU, down scaling is possible. Contact our support team for more information.
What type of backups are available with VPS hosting?
Hivium offers simplfied backups with every VPS. All of the files, databases, and emails are backed up by us with our backup software. The backups are stored on an secure offsite location for a period of 30 days.
For Enhance control panel, we use Enhance backups which offers easily 1-click restores when needed. For cPanel and DirectAdmin we use JetBackup as the software.
Can I migrate my websites to Hivium's VPS hosting?
Yes, and it’s free to do so. Moving your current website to Hivium’s VPS hosting is a simple process. Just answer a few simple questions and we’ll move your site to your VPS. You can also follow step-by-step instructions mentioned in this guide on transferring your hosting account.

Can I add extra block storage to my VPS?
Yes, you can add extra block storage to your VPS. Kindly contact our support and they will help you setup the block storage for your VPS. Please do note that it is not possible to resize your root partition and add the block storage space to it.
Will I receive a FREE SSL certificates for all of my domains?
Yes. You will receive FREE SSL certificates for all the domains that you have hosted on your VPS hosting. With cPanel, you will receive an SSL certificate via AutoSSL and with DirectAdmin and Enhance, your certificate will be issued via Let’s Encrypt.
